MOZZ - DYNAMITE!!!

Dear Friends:

First, can someone please bring back the hit TV sitcom GOOD TIMES please.  Whatta show!!

Second, last night we had our DINE event at Mozz, the new establishment where formerly Primos was located.  They have been open only one month and the food sure did impress.  From fresh in house made mozzarella, fresh salad, pizza, steak, fish, I think everyone enjoyed their food.

It was our biggest turn out yet, and I really hope everyone continues coming to these events.

The full review of Mozz and our night out can be found at www.louisvilledine.blogspot.com

Happy Sunday!

WE'RE ALL COOL!!!!

Dear Friends:

Recently, Butchertown was picked as one of the coolest places by AOL. Please check out the link below.

Also, was informed by Leah that two new restaurants are under way in our neighborhood. Harvest, serving locally grown food is slated to open at 624 E Market and a second restaurant is scheduled to be opened in the Meeting House building on SPRING ST.
Seems like everyone except our current and possibly future city officials know how great Butchertown is. We should ALL continue to make them hear us...............

WILTSHIRE ON MARKET - DINE REVIEW

Keith, Leah, Walt, David, Elizabeth, Jason, Natasha, Andy, Matt, Keturah, Jennifer, Alicia, Ruth, Francoise,Chris

I know EVERYONE has been waiting for our DINE review and well....its finally here. All the emails, texts, calls, driving by my house, letters, smoke signals, horn honking, and stares can now stop. :)

AND SO......THUS

Well quite simply, Wiltshire on Market is glorious. You gotta go soon!!

Its a smaller place but let me say first that the staff worked awesome with our requests. Lots of communication and call backs. I had to change our reservations to accomodate you procrasinators a few times and each time they were more than happy to help. A big Thank You to the staff.

The restaurant is quaint but very elegant. The colors are warm and welcoming. Walking in from the hot street was a welcome sigh. Just made me want to relax and get ready to eat, drink and be merry. Walls have exposed brick and a very cool wine rack hangs behind the bar. Meant to get a picture of it but forgot. :( oh well.

There were 15 of us in all and they had us seated at three very long tables that they had put together. Some of us set on benches while others had chairs. Very comfortable.
Lots of food was had.... Heres my take:
Bean Hummus >> To die for, creamy, yummy,
Pork Pho >>>> GOOD Asian flair, rice noodles, pork, pork, pork
Barramundi >>>>>> Light/flavorful. A perfect situation for a hot summer eve

The menu changes frequently(which is awesome) so can't guarantee you will ever have these, but you will not regret going.

The group of us had a fine time indeed. Those of you that didn't make it SUCK.... I mean those of you that didn't make it missed out on a hot time!!

Hope you enjoy the few photos I managed before the camera battery died.

~ Adios Amigos............ See you at the next event.

Miss C's on Chestnut - NOW OPEN

One of Butchertown's finest dining establishment has recently expanded to a SECOND location. Today, August 2nd was their grand opening and it will definitely be a hit. I'm sure most of you have had Charlotte and Chris's fantastic food and if you haven't then what the heck are you waiting on. You simply can't beat it and now with a second location, you have no excuse. You will Thank this blog later. :)
On a recent pre-opening party, we went and checked out the new digs and came away very impressed. The decor is suitable and their new location is perfectly located just off 4th street near THE PALACE. ........ And I hear strong rumors from a very reliable source that a happy hour is maybe most likely possibly in the works.....................

DINE - REVIEW with More Photos

Hunger is the best sauce in the world.
- Cervantes

MAYAN CAFE
WOW.... What a great time and a great meal with great friends.
Last night was our first DINE event and we went to the Mayan Cafe. The wait staff and Anne did a great job of finding a place for us even though there were 13 in our party. The restaurant was elegantly decorated with South American inspired art work on the walls amid calming blue colors.
Many appetizers were ordered including the guacamole, and the black bean cakes which we shared. Both were tasty and the guacamole was very fresh and made in house.

For Dinner, I can attest to the fact that the Mayan burger was delicious and cooked perfectly, while the vegetable plate was also very tasty. Everyone in our party cleaned their plates and I did witness a few licking off the last few niplets. Very Good food and a great time was had by all.

Stay tuned to our next DINE event in the upcoming weeks. As always, we are open to suggestions as to where we should go and look forward to everyone coming.

Better Meat Needs Better Butchers

Below is an excerpt from GOOD Magazine, highlighting how once booming small scale family businesses have turned into a full blown INDUSTRY. Take a couple minutes and have a look back at how things once operated in Butchertown.

LINK TO GOOD MAGAZINE

"Forty years ago, smaller, family-owned slaughterhouses existed throughout the United States. The number of these “very small plants” has declined over the last 10 years, according to the Food Safety and Inspection Service, and the industry consolidated into a very, very efficient system. In her book Raising Steaks, Betty Fussell writes that all but a very small percentage of the 30 millions cows harvested annually in United States are turned into meat by one of three major packers. And industry beef producers don’t make money on rib eye steaks. They make money on the parts no one wants—value-added offals like pink slime."
